What is light colour?
The light colour of a lamp describes the colour temperature. Its unit is Kelvin (K). It indicates whether the lamp emits warm or cool light. A low Kelvin value describes warm white light (from 2700 K). The higher the value, the cooler the light (from 5300 K).
That is why it is important that you think about the use of the illuminant in advance when making a purchase. On the packaging you will always find a value between 2700 K and 5300 K which gives you information about the light colour.
LED light colour – the myth of uncomfortableness
Bad tongues claim that LED illuminants have many disadvantages compared to outdated light bulbs. This – if one believes one of the countless myths – concerns above all the light colour. It's too bright, glaring and uncomfortable. But we can reassure you: LED illuminants have the full program. In the blue and green wavelength ranges, the light spectrum of LED illuminants is even more intense than that of energy-guzzling light bulbs.
Confessing the colour of light – individually room by room
You push the door handle down and open the office door after a long weekend. Immediately the smell of copy paper rises into your nose. With a gentle tap on the light switch, you'll flood your kingdom with bright white light for the next eight hours. And that's exactly the way it should be: Universal white or better neutral white is preferably suitable for offices. In the value range between 3300 and 5300 Kelvin, you can also perfectly illuminate your kitchen with this type of lamp. It's about the light colour in the bathroom? You've come to the right place.
You turn off the engine of your car, unlock the front door and stroll along the corridor of the apartment building. When you get to your front door, you know one thing: You are just minutes away from your favourite book and a good glass of wine. When you have arrived in the living room warm white light from your new lamp spoils your eyes. Also the luminaires in your bedroom already shine with illuminants between 2700 and 3300 Kelvin.
But you still have a problem: Your friend has been complaining for some time about too little light in his cellar workshop. Silently you sneak down the frosty-cold marble stairs. You open the light wooden door and let your gaze wander in the gloomy cellar room. He's right. Something has to change. Instinctively you remember your last research: Lamps with Kelvin values from 5300 K are suitable for darkened rooms or cellar rooms. They simulate daylight and give every workshop a feel-good ambience even without windows.
Light colours table – continuous feel good
You have always wondered which lamp provides perfect light in which room? Well, as with many things in life, personal taste sets the tone here as well. But the type of use of the illuminant is also decisive. Remember these three clues when you buy your next illuminant: You need a light colour of 3000 K for your living room. We recommend a light colour of 4000 K for your office. Everything above 5000 K comes very close to the natural sunlight and makes sense in windowless rooms.
